Random March Musings

March 2011. The joyous times of playing a Supporting Artist's Character Role - father to an infant daughter. As she steps into her fifth month. Exciting times for her Papa and Mama. The milestone of “turning over” having been accomplished once, she decides that it is no longer as big a deal and decides not to even attempt it again. Fantastic unforgettable moments.
Treasuring the few days when am able to be around with her. The rest of the times, the more capable Mom handles all her bawls and late night conversational sessions. One more ample testimony from the Almighty Above that no matter how hard I try, the fact is just that women are simply born smarter and superior !
Periodic visits to specialist doctors at specialist hospitals add to the happenings of my life.

A boring Cricket World Cup 2011 being played out. Played in India. Quite a drab affair. Notwithstanding the efforts of the media to whip up some frenzy among the hapless diehard fans. Of course, my perceptions of this World Cup are mine only.
On the work front, meetings and interviews. Young dapper grads seeking the big moneys and big designations. They like the business proposition. That is one motivation to consider startups of our kind. So finding ways to keep them passionately happy.

Loyalty to the cause is an extinct emotion. Right here. Right Now. I want my life. I want it now. It feels like an anachronism when there are people who work hard mindlessly. Who trudge their chosen path year after year. Don’t know or care to know what their monthly salary is. What their market worth is. Not that the monthly salary is not required. They do have the fires at home to be doused. They do have the families to attend to. This kind of human almost seems like a different species. From a different bygone era.

The Farewell arranged by the students of Chinmaya Vidyalaya for their School Vice Principal Maya Menon would also be one such day. Another day in the long chequered history of the school. A school in Ernakulam district. In Kerala.

Thirty years at one institution. A career built in shaping that of many thousands. Shaping lives of children as they step into school as innocent angels. And then, walk out of their alma mater after ten years as strapping young adults. Been sculpted by their teachers and the positive environment provided by the alma mater.
This selfless exhibition is some kind of strange anachronistic, impractical human behavior in today’s materialistic society. However, such type of individuals are also appreciated by their hordes of students and positive lives that have been built over the years.
Teachers do occupy a special place in every student’s heart. The retirement of a teacher is just another day in the long history of the school. But it seldom is the same for the individuals involved. Not for the individual teacher. Not for the students. Special moments with the teacher are always etched firmly in the safe recesses of the minds of each student. Moments to be remembered and discussed in nostalgic times of Class Reunions many decades later; In moments of rare meetings with the same teacher many years later; in times when these students themselves mature into successful individuals and get to narrate these tales and parables to their new families.

In the midst of these events and happenings, the cycle of life does go on. Happy times, sorrowful times. Two sides of the same coin. Helps to be grounded to the roller coaster realities of life. The Lord up there does have his reasons for what is panning out in one’s life. Not always rosy moments. Every rose comes with its thorns.
As they say ‘ “What the Caterpillar calls the End of its World, The World Calls the Butterfly”.
