I could try to state this in words....but they would surely fail me. Hope these pictures capture the fantastic grandeur of the Vrischikulsavam at Poornathreyashan Kshetram, Tripunithura.
More than 30 artists performing everyday from 9am - 12 noon; and again from 9pm to midnight. Nonstop. Sweating their way to some brilliant instrumental renditions. The crowds swaying to their music. Headbanging absolutely redefined.
The 15 caparisoned elephants added to the grandeur.
I fortunately got to witness this Ulsavam as I was in the same town to visit my new infant daughter. The Ulsavam inauguration was on the same day that I landed in town ( Kodikerral).
The town which normally goes to sleep by 8.30 every night - was agog with activity all thru the nightduring the 10-day long festival. Every night. Audiences comprised tourists from all over India abd overseas and the local residents;
And to think that this Fantastic Festival that is literally a stone's throw away from home, got me to attend this festival this year by gifting me a baby daughter....
A truly divine intervention indeed!
